Excuse Me! What's an event with no culture!?

Model Basketball 3 on 3 Agency Tournament doubled as an art exhibition, and we mean not just a display of attractive models participating in athletics. We actually had exhibited artistic works from up and coming artists whom have direct ties into the fashion industry. It has been a long cliché belief that models (and persons) in fashion are singluar dimensional. But instrumentual in MB's creation was to once and for all prove that most models (persons in fashion) are more than just beautiful faces and tight abs.

Off the truck 2017

The former Barneys NY operations employee turned personal shopper you can say has an eye and appreciates beauty in all forms. Michael Williams, the Newark, NJ native, is a photographer that uses his eye to capture and document some of the best graffiti artistry in the world that is amongst us everyday right in the City of New York. His 'Off The Truck 2017" exhibit, soon to be book, shows us his no filtered IPhone depiction of often overlooked and underappreciated graffiti art displayed on commerical trucks (and passenager vans). In New York City during the 70s and 80s, Graffiti artistry boomed marking terrorities, making statements and delivering messages of all kinds. Not all of which were appreciated by a number of persons including then Mayor of New York City, Ed Koch.  He took to jailing graffiti artists at the time, singlehandedly changing the public perception of the artists and deeming Graffiti art as vandalism. Yet and still tagging remained prevalent and had a huge resurrance in the early 2000s. Mike Will's mission is to spread the word and remind us all that artists like Urbanimal, Queenandreaone, CashRFC, Wane COD, Sinned NYC and Buffmonster create distinctive timeless cultural masterpieces, just like Pablo Picasso or Vincent Van Gogh.

CAVIER ART

Detroit Native, Cavier Coleman, is an agency represented model with MSA/Adam in NYC. Whom, after adding photography to his skill set, transitioned back to his childhood love of painting and has not stopped since. Over recent years, Cavier has amassed a tremendous body of work, and while although largely influenced by Pablo Picasso and Jean Michel Basquiat, it is uniquely and unmistakenly Mister Coleman. Highly contrasted, series of bold lines, and all the vibrant colors schemes prevail in both his paintings and photographic art works. Cavier confronts and brings awareness to todays issues by concealing an extraordinary amount of hidden meaning using layering and depth techniques.

art by alex #Keepgoing

There are those whom create art, then there are those whom are art themselves, and on the very rare occassion does someone encompass both. Of German decent, Alexandra Cunnningham, best known as Alex Undone, hails from Virginia is a new resident of New York City. The model (Agency: Q Model Management NY), painter, writer, poet, wordsmith, influncer, and mother, practices what she preaches by living in her very own truth. With a never quit, ever flowing and free spirited #KeepGoing attitude, she teeders androgenic lines with a tom boyish style with a womanly curve. Her many depths, but full self awareness and in tune to oneness can be completely interpreted in Undone's abstract painting style. Alex's individual uniqueness, love, feels and life experiences are what she channels as influences to create her blending of color hues and twines of paint lines. Her works are close to abstract as she is herself. Who is Alex Undone?

Even with a B.A. in Art History from California State University Sacramento, artistry has been ever so present throughout the Harris family blood line. With a brother whom is a photographer, a mother that is a culinary artist, and a father that is a painter, Megan Gabrielle is all things visual. Raised in Sacramento, California, Megan decided to leave the West Coast to pursue a career as an international model after graduating CSUS. After a couple years of success in overseas markets, The Beautiful Flower sought representation with Q Model Management in New York City, where she has lived for the past two years. Never losing that creative, Megan's works encompasses all three artistic visual mediums, paintings, drawings and photography. For such a prowess for all things creative, Megan draws from nature and her immediate surroundings for subject matter. Florals, a favorite which represent natural beauty, radiance and vitality, tend to reoccur in her paintings; As does the when she uses herself as her own muse and interprets the often unappreciated woman of color. Her works, which are largely influenced by her father, aim to acknowledge the underrepresented and to bring to light subjects that are often overlooked.

Ilan Leas

Ilan Leas

Ilan Leas art

Born in New York to a NYC art teacher, Ilan Leas was constantly involved in creative projects growing up.  His style, which was described by peers as "crazy complex, yet somehow simple and very trippy", began to develop in middle school after watching a TV special on crop circles.  From there he spent time drawing intricate designs that incorporated events from his daily life.  This continued through his studies at Wake Forest University where he graduated with a B.S., majoring in Health and Exercise Science and minoring in Psychology.  Following graduation, he signed with Ford Models in NYC and moved back to the City. Throughout the years, he transitioned from pen doodles, to other drawing and painting mediums on new and foreign surfaces. Ilan's current work incorporates lines which influence the ones to follow, maintaining a distinct flow, despite being wild.  Thus, the rhythm and energy of the piece is largely dictated by the first line he puts down.  He creates art with acrylic paint, ink, paint-marker, and pen and seeks to harmonize the properties of each medium in a visual dance with the space and texture of the surface. Something like patternless parterns, wouldn't you say?

Shei Phan Art

The one time model, Shei Phan, was discovered by a photographer in small town Oklahoma. After successfully navigating her way through the industry, having made appearances on Project Runway and making it to the top five of America's Next Top Model, Shei realized her passions lie elsewhere.  Shei states, “ Even though art is my true passion as a model I was able to work on beautiful projects with unbelievably creative people that helped give my art life. Having another art form that I have enjoyed so much and living in New York has had a beautiful effect on my paintings. I love to get lost and let my paintings write the story as I go.” Transitioning from modeling to becoming a well-known artist Shei's cast some vibrant contrast on the art community. The talents comtemporary artistry has been described as striking and prismatic. She primarily works in a stochastic painting method where chaos meets formula, keying in on envoking emotion within her audience taking them on a Shei's wonderland journey. On one side of her world, we find the charismatic pandas of the “Ying Dynasty”, while on the other side, we find Shei vulnerable yet still so mysterious within her self-nudes of “More than a Model” and “Forget Me Not” series. With this look inside the wonderland, Shei brings a little of everything to the table with color confusion and extreme contrast.

Henry Watkins

Henry Watkins

H3 Artistry

The undoubted convertion of Soul Artists Management coming to represent Henry Watkins seemed as one might call fate. An artist of all sorts, the Philadelphian born and bred bull can be seen in the likes of Macy's, is the current face of Polo Ralph Lauren, and the one time star on the hit TV series, "Model City." But while curating a successful modeling career over the past 8+ years, Henry simultaneously amassed a great deal of art work in other forms as well. The talent, whom attended the Philadelphia's high school for the creative and performing arts for Visual Art, fell in love with graffiti and anime in his early years. His love for surrealism, notably the  sheer wow and brilliance of Salvador Dali's work, can be seen in his recent paintings which have been complete experimentation with textures and fine lines all while delivering a message or highlighting an iconic figure of the times. H3 Artistry speaks, "Like alot of artist I can be a perfectionist, it's never done, it's never enough. But in contrast my work is like life, it's rough, yet colorful.

It's raw."
